What to expect

This specialist programme is designed for experienced coaches, organisational leaders, managers, and HR/OD professionals who have a solid grounding in coaching and are now offering, or preparing to offer, supervision to coaches working within organisational settings.

While grounded in the core principles and values of coaching, coach supervision is a distinct and advanced discipline. It provides a reflective space to explore practice, strengthen professional capability, and attend to the coach, the coaching relationship and the wider organisational context. Supervision combines reflective dialogue, challenge, support and guidance to promote safe, ethical, effective and continually developing coaching practice.

The Learning Experience

A clear two-stage journey from guided learning through to qualification support.

01 Phase 1

Guided Learning — Multi Module

This course is delivered across multiple guided learning modules, allowing the programme to be structured into clear stages of development.

A modular format supports progression over time, giving learners the opportunity to build understanding, apply learning between sessions and return with reflections from practice.

This approach is particularly suited to programmes that cover broader themes, multiple areas of competence or a longer developmental journey.

02 Phase 2

Undertaking Your Qualification

For those who wish to take their learning further, The Leadership Edge offers the option to progress towards a CMI Level 7 qualification. Following completion of your chosen modules and a period of reflection, you can choose to register with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and begin working towards the qualification.

Once registered, our fully inclusive qualification service provides expert guidance throughout the process. From understanding assignment requirements and planning your work through to assessor feedback, you will have the resources, advice and encouragement to stay focused, confident and on track.

    • Guided Learning

      Guided learning sessions are delivered by experienced industry specialists with professional and vocational expertise in their respective disciplines.

      Rather than relying on conventional classroom tutoring alone, guided learning combines facilitated discussion, applied practice, industry context and meaningful interaction to support deeper understanding and practical competence.

      This specialist-led approach helps learners connect theory to real-world practice and benefit from current sector insight throughout the programme.

      This course comprises 4 modules, delivered over a total of 4.5 training days:

      Professional Coach Supervision

      Delivered over three immersive days, this programme builds your confidence and competence to operate as a skilled coach supervisor.

      You’ll apply your learning in practice by delivering three real-world coach supervision sessions in your organisation or with clients. After each session, you’ll return for facilitated reflection, analysis, and supervision of your supervision, deepening your insight and supporting your ethical development as a practitioner.

      • Day 1 — The foundations of effective supervision

        Learners will explore the conceptual foundations of coach supervision, develop clarity, trust and ethical boundaries through effective contracting, and begin to develop their supervisory practice by applying evidence-informed supervision models.

      • Day 2 — Self as supervisor

        You will develop reflective and reflexive practice as the foundation of effective supervision, with a particular focus on understanding yourself and your impact as a supervisor. Through facilitated peer-group practice, you will explore models and frameworks that deepen self-awareness and develop your confidence in working with complex relational dynamics within supervision

      • Day 3 — Complexity, context and ethical practice

        Learners will develop their ability to work confidently with complexity in supervision, including boundaries, ethical decision-making and psychological safety. Through a systemic lens and facilitated peer-group practice, they will deepen their supervisory presence, self-awareness and confidence in navigating the wider relational and organisational context

      Pre-registration

      Preparing for your qualification

      You will now have access to all course materials and the full qualification functionality within your LMS dashboard, including the ability to view tutorial and supervision schedules and book your sessions. Your LMS experience, materials and support sessions are tailored specifically to your chosen qualification pathway.

      You then enter our unique 28-day pre-registration reflection period. This gives you time to return to your day-to-day role following the course, reflect on and apply your learning, revisit the course materials, and familiarise yourself with the qualification resources available through the LMS.

      At the end of this period, you will receive your awarding-body Learner ID and formally begin the qualification support period applicable to your chosen pathway.

    • CPD & Attendance
      A certificate of attendance is provided following completion of the guided-learning element of this course and records the CPD hours you have earned.

  • Qualification Details

    After completing the guided learning phase, you will be registered with the relevant awarding body for your chosen qualification pathway. You may then complete the required assessments for that pathway in order to achieve the qualification.

    • CMI CMI Level 6 Certificate in Professional Coach Supervision

      Delivered over three immersive days, this programme builds your confidence and competence to operate as a skilled coach supervisor.

      You’ll apply your learning in practice by delivering three real-world coach supervision sessions in your organisation or with clients. After each session, you’ll return for facilitated reflection, analysis, and supervision of your supervision, deepening your insight and supporting your ethical development as a practitioner.

      To achieve certification, participants must:

      • Attend all three training days
      • Plan and undertake a combination of 1:2:1 and multi-person supervision sessions
      • Reflect on their practice as a developing supervisor and keep comprehensive reflective journals
      • Attend three half-days ’supervising the supervisor’ sessions with their cohort, to support the development of professional practice
      • Submit and receive feedback on a recorded supervision session
