As an approved centre for both CMI and ILM, we select the awarding organisation whose qualification framework best complements the subject, learning experience and professional outcomes of each programme.

For our Level 7 Leadership & Management Accelerator, we choose CMI.

As the Chartered professional body for management and leadership, CMI provides a Level 7 framework designed for experienced and aspiring senior leaders. It supports the critical examination of strategic direction, organisational performance, culture, change and leadership within complex environments.

This closely complements the applied nature of the ChTC programme. Participants are encouraged to connect contemporary leadership thinking with genuine organisational challenges, strengthening their judgement and developing approaches they can apply directly within their own leadership context.

For learners, a CMI qualification also provides independent recognition from an established professional body, giving employers confidence that their development has been assessed against defined senior-level qualification standards.

A clear two-stage journey from guided learning through to qualification support.

01 Phase 1

Guided Learning

Each module is a standalone, intensive learning experience, giving you the flexibility to choose a single module to address a specific priority or combine modules to create a broader leadership development pathway. Every module is individually approved by the CPD Standards Office, providing recognised professional development aligned to clear learning outcomes and standards.

Live guided learning can be experienced in person or virtually, allowing you to choose the format that works best for you and your organisation. Sessions are complemented by the ChTC Learning Management System, which provides access to pre-module preparation, session resources, guided activities, and post-module materials to support reflection and practical application.

02 Phase 2

Undertaking Your Qualification

For those who wish to take their learning further, The Leadership Edge offers the option to progress towards a CMI Level 7 qualification. Following completion of your chosen modules and a period of reflection, you can choose to register with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and begin working towards the qualification.

Once registered, our fully inclusive qualification service provides expert guidance throughout the process. From understanding assignment requirements and planning your work through to assessor feedback, you will have the resources, advice and encouragement to stay focused, confident and on track.

    • Guided Learning

      Guided learning sessions are delivered by experienced industry specialists with professional and vocational expertise in their respective disciplines.

      Rather than relying on conventional classroom tutoring alone, guided learning combines facilitated discussion, applied practice, industry context and meaningful interaction to support deeper understanding and practical competence.

      This specialist-led approach helps learners connect theory to real-world practice and benefit from current sector insight throughout the programme.

      This course comprises a single module, delivered over 3 training days:

      Strategic Leadership in Complex Organisations

      Delivered over three intensive days, this module develops the strategic insight, leadership judgement and organisational awareness required to lead effectively at a senior level.

      Participants explore how to shape and communicate strategic direction, navigate complexity, influence stakeholders, lead culture and change, and translate organisational priorities into sustainable performance. Applied discussion, practical activities and reflection connect contemporary leadership thinking with the real challenges participants face in their own organisations.

      • Day 1 — Lead Strategically

        Throughout Day 1, learners will critically examine the strategic role of leadership within the wider organisational system. The day focuses on self-awareness, leadership impact and organisational influence, enabling learners to analyse and evaluate how their leadership practice shapes strategic outcomes across complex organisational contexts.

      • Day 2 — Lead the Future

         During Day 2 of the programme, learners will critically examine the strategic role of leadership in driving innovation, digital transformation and organisational change. The day focuses on shaping cultures that enable innovation, evaluating emerging opportunities and risks, and leading complex change with purpose. Learners will explore how leaders engage stakeholders, navigate resistance and sustain momentum to shape organisational futures and deliver sustainable impact.

      • Day 3 — Lead for impact

        Throughout Day 3, learners will critically examine the strategic role of leadership in building high-performing, inclusive and resilient teams and organisations. The day focuses on motivation, engagement, performance and capability, exploring how leadership behaviours and culture shape outcomes. Learners will consider how leaders create environments where people can perform and thrive, while using performance management, coaching, delegation and communication to develop talent and strengthen organisational performance

      Pre-registration

      Preparing for your qualification

      You will now have access to all course materials and the full qualification functionality within your LMS dashboard, including the ability to view tutorial schedules and book your sessions. Your LMS experience, materials and support sessions are tailored specifically to your chosen qualification pathway.

      You then enter our unique 28-day pre-registration reflection period. This gives you time to return to your day-to-day role following the course, reflect on and apply your learning, revisit the course materials, and familiarise yourself with the qualification resources available through the LMS.

      At the end of this period, you will receive your awarding-body Learner ID and formally begin the qualification support period applicable to your chosen pathway.

      A certificate of attendance is provided following completion of the guided-learning element of this course and records the CPD hours you have earned.

  • Qualification Details

    After completing the guided learning phase, you will be registered with the relevant awarding body for your chosen qualification pathway. You may then complete the required assessments for that pathway in order to achieve the qualification.

    • CMI CMI Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Management & Leadership Practice

      This pathway is designed for experienced managers and senior leaders operating across complex organisational environments. Participants use their own workplace context to critically examine strategic leadership, organisational performance, culture, change and stakeholder influence.

      Assessment focuses on applying leadership thinking to genuine organisational challenges and demonstrating informed, evidence-based practice. Learners must complete all units included within their selected pathway, which may provide more credits than the minimum required for the qualification.
